Dear Scholars, Staff, Families, and Community,

WOW. It is already September, and our scholars, staff, and YOU, our families, are off to a great start. The first few weeks back have been successful, and I am SO excited about the remainder of this school year!!

📊 This month, you can expect homework, progress reports, and assessment letters to come home. We took several screeners last month to see where our scholars are academically so teachers know how to best support them.

📚 I am excited to announce that this year all of our scholars will take a field experience to the Houston Central Public Library. This field experience will give our scholars insight into literacy, including how to check out books, access digital books, record audio, and more. Literacy is a key component of every scholar’s academic success; reading is in EVERYTHING that we do. We are serious at RSPA about building a culture of reading in our district.

🔎 STEM Pathway also begins this month for our 7th grade girls. This field experience connects directly to science, math, and technology. Our 7th grade girls travel to NASA each month, where they meet astronauts and engage in creative problem-solving, engineering design challenges, robotics, and technology-based projects. The goal is to increase female representation in STEM fields.

🥁🥁🥁Drum roll, please…I am pleased to announce this year’s 2026-2027 Team Leads…PreK-2nd Grade Team Lead is Ms. Croker, 3rd-5th Grade Team Lead is Ms. Calhoun, and 6th-8th Grade Team Lead is Ms. Smith!!! Congratulations! I know you will do an amazing job. CREW, help me welcome your team leads.

With gratitude and excitement,
Principal Winslow
