Hello CREWtastic Families!
October marks the end of the first nine weeks and is a fun-filled month for our scholars, staff, and parents. We are celebrating Hispanic Heritage, and this year we have something new to share. We are having a Lotería! Each class will donate a themed gift basket as our prizes for each lucky Lotería winner. Please see the flier for all the details. We hope to see you there! This month we will also celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness, Red Ribbon Week, SLEDS, Character Parade & Trunk or Treat, to name a few. More details on each event are listed online.
🧑💻RSPA, please join me in WELCOMING our new Counselor, Mrs. Josephine Jeffcoat. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in counseling scholars. Ms. Jeffcoat is ready to serve our scholars and community. Remember, we need parent permission, so please sign the counselor consent form on ParentSquare for your student to receive counseling. You can meet her during Coffee with the Counselor.
📃District Based Assessment #1, in Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Math are for grades K-8th. The campus will be closed during that week of testing. I ask that you try to schedule any appointments before or after testing week. We need all scholars at school, well-rested and ready to test every day.
🔬Parents, please make sure that you are helping your scholar keep up with Science Fair topic due dates. Most topics are due this month, and each one is worth a grade in science class. Some grades will also count toward math and ELA. Science Fair projects are due in November and are worth a major grade. Projects must be on tri-fold boards to be entered into the Science Fair for judging. Speak with your child’s teacher for more information, as needed.
🍫This year, we are fundraising through World’s Famous Chocolate. Remember, a portion of what your scholar sells goes towards their Activity Fees. Please make sure your scholar grabs a box!
🗓️ Parents, we strive for a minimum of 98% attendance every day. We know that won’t always be the case, but this year we started off missing the mark. We need our scholars here each and every day. Remember, if your scholar is absent, please send them back with a note (parent, doctor, etc.). Three tardies equal one absence, and the more school days your scholar misses, the more gaps that develop in their learning.
⏰ Early & Late pickup is happening more frequently, and I need us to work together on ensuring our scholars are at school for the entire day and are picked up on time. Early pickup ends at 2:15 PM; however, if early pickup happens often, parents will be required to attend an in-person meeting. Frequent late pickups will also require an in-person meeting.
