Welcome to the Counselor’s Corner!
My name is Mrs. Jeffcoat, and I am excited to be the new School Counselor at Rhodes School for the Performing Arts! Each month, I will share the student Classroom Counseling topic and any initiative weeks we may have that month. I will also share the parent Lunch and Learn topic and Coffee with the Counselor information.
October’s Classroom Counseling Lessons will be about Bullying Awareness.
Students will learn what bullying is, how it differs from being rude or mean, the different types of bullying, and what bullying can cause for others. Students will also learn techniques to stop themselves from bullying, what to do if they are targeted, and how to be an ally against bullying. Students will highlight the strengths and skills of being non-judgmental towards others.
National Bullying Prevention Awareness
National Bullying Prevention Awareness is observed during the month of October.
While students participate in lessons regarding bullying, Unity Day (October 21) is the day when togetherness is celebrated. Orange is the color used to represent bullying awareness, as it represents warmth and safety. Students can support the cause by wearing orange shirts and jeans, as well as orange wristbands, ribbons, socks, stickers, or other orange accessories to support the cause!
🎉 Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week (Drug Free America) takes place during the week of October 23rd-31st. The 2026 Red Ribbon Week Theme is “Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free.” Students will have a guest speaker come and talk about the dangers of drugs. Students can also participate in Rhodes Red Ribbon Spirit Week! Please see the flyer!
This month’s Coffee with the Counselor will be a Meet the Counselor Introduction session! Please see flyers for both events!
