Dear RSPA Families,

As we welcome spring, we are excited to continue focusing on student growth, achievement, and preparation for the final stretch of the school year. During the month of April, our teachers are intentionally planning and delivering instruction that supports scholars as they prepare for End-of-Year (EOY) assessments, STAAR, and advancement to the next grade level.

Our PreK–2nd grade scholars are developing strong foundations in reading and math, while our 3rd–8th grade scholars are engaged in focused preparation for the upcoming STAAR assessments.

This STAAR season, our campus theme is, “We Put in the WORK for STAAR Success!” Scholars will participate in structured review activities that target essential skills and reinforce learning. Families are also encouraged to support practice at home using Progress Learning to help strengthen student performance.

We invite you to join us on April 9th for our STAAR Academic Night in the RSPA Construction Zone. Families of scholars in grades 3–8 will have the opportunity to connect with teachers and gain helpful strategies to support learning at home. Families of PreK–2nd grade scholars will enjoy interactive activities designed to build and reinforce foundational skills.

In addition, our PreK–2nd grade scholars will participate in field experiences throughout the month. Please be sure to check your child’s folder for permission slips and reach out to your scholar’s teacher if you are interested in volunteering.

Attendance remains a key factor in student success, and our goal is to maintain 98% attendance or higher. Scholars with three or fewer absences during the second semester will qualify to attend our Splash Day Party, a perfect attendance celebration in May. Scholars who maintain perfect attendance in April will be invited to our “Slice Into Success & Chill” Perfect Attendance Party.

We are also excited to host our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament on April 30. This event helps raise funds that directly support student resources across our campus and district. If you are interested in registering a team or know a business interested in sponsoring, please refer to the event flyer for additional details. Additionally, our King and Queen of the Tee Off Fundraiser Competition is underway. Scholars who raise at least $250 could win amazing rewards and could be crowned King, Queen, Dutch, and Duchess at the Spring Ball on April 30th! Visit the web page to learn more!

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Your involvement plays an important role in helping our scholars succeed.

As always, we appreciate the opportunity to serve your family and support your child’s educational journey here at RSPA.

Growing Students with Excellence Every Day!

Upcoming Events…

Congratulations to our Scholars & CREW Member of the Month!

Hello Parents!

Last month, during our guidance lessons, we explored test anxiety, what it looks like, the physical and emotional symptoms students may experience, and a variety of coping strategies they can use both in and out of the classroom. Students learned that feeling nervous before a test is completely normal, and we practiced simple tools such as deep breathing, grounding techniques, positive self-talk, and breaking tasks into smaller steps.

This month, we will be focusing on test preparation to help students feel more confident and better equipped as we approach upcoming assessments. We will discuss practical study habits, time-management strategies, the importance of rest and nutrition, and how to create a calm and organized study space at home. We will also revisit the coping strategies from last month, so students know what to do if anxious feelings start to surface again.

Please continue to talk with your child about how they are feeling. These conversations can reduce frustration, nervousness, or fear and help your child feel supported. Encouraging routines such as consistent study times, regular breaks, and reviewing material in small chunks can also make a big difference.

I invite you to join me for our next Coffee with the Counselor on Thursday, April 2nd. During this session, we will share helpful tips and resources to better prepare your child for upcoming tests, including ways to build confidence, organize materials, and reduce stress at home. It will be an excellent opportunity to ask questions, learn strategies, and connect with other families.

I look forward to seeing you then!

Best Regards,
Jassitte Gibson, M.Ed.

April News from Ms. Randolph

Greetings, RSPA Families,

April brings a season of renewal, growth, and new opportunities. As we enter this month, we are reminded that progress doesn’t always come from big changes, but from consistent effort, strong connections, and a shared commitment to our scholars.

This is a time to reflect on how far we’ve come and continue building toward the goals we have set together as a school community.

“Growth begins when we embrace new possibilities.” 🌱

Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and dedication. Your presence and involvement continue to strengthen our RSPA family and create meaningful experiences for our scholars.

🌟 A Note of Encouragement

As we move through April, remember:

  • Growth takes time—be patient with yourself and others.
  • Every effort you make supports our scholars’ success.
  • Strong communities are built through consistency and care.

Thank you for continuing to show up, support, and uplift our school community. Together, we are creating lasting impact and meaningful change.

Wishing you a month filled with growth, positivity, and new beginnings.
